Better Read Than Dead Bookstore

I painted this little sign for my good friend Dave Morse at the Better Read Than Dead Bookstore in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Tried to have fun with this one and spend less than an hour on the whole process! Go check it out: 867 Broadway!

Gio's Solo Show

My good friend Giovanni Cardenas is working towards a solo show in Brooklyn this May to display his fine photography! Gio is graduating from Pratt this year and has focused his final project on action sports, specifically cycling and skateboarding in NYC. A large portion of the work documents my roommate Rich and my love for building and racing bicycles!  Gio needs a little help to get the project funded and is looking for your support here: Giovanni's Solo Show!

Your donations will support a true artist and possibly get my face on your wall haha! Here's a sneak peek:

I recently updated the chalk menu for Colson Patisserie at Industry City. Really enjoyed practicing my casual lettering. Here's a photo of the finished product:

Completed Doorway

Iphone shots of completing the doorway for Building 3 today. Three more doorways to go!

Construction at Industry City

One of the struggles of working as a muralist is seeing your hard work damaged, replaced, buffed, or built over. You've gotta remember that there will always be another project to make up for it, but for me there is always a sense of loss.  Industry City has been doing some more renovation in Building 2, removing large portions of the mural project I worked so hard on alongside Doug Aldrich, Kevin Farrell and Rich Soffar.  Here are some photos of construction in process...

Finished Elevator Map

Here are some (bad) photos of a painting I recently finished for Industry City.  Map of Sunset Park with current location and subway lines to spice things up in this freight entrance.

Sign Painting Inspiration

I have been photographing old signs throughout New York as my interest and knowledge of the art / profession grow.  Here are some of the gems I've stumbled upon during my days in Sunset Park, Bed Stuy and Williamsburg.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I do...

Graphic Design

Digital design has never been by my strong suit, however the reality is that computers are quick and sometimes the fastest way to work out concepts is with Photoshop or Illustrator.   Here are some quick mock-ups for a stencil I've been developing to announce free wifi at Industry City.  Stay tuned for more hand painted goodness!
